At Arlington and Woolslair Elementary, the Little Learning Warriors explored their natural surroundings and made leaf rubbings to examine the structure of leaves.  With the help of the Tech Warriors, the students identified different trees and created a collage of their favorites, making leaf-rubbings with crayons and paper.

The Warriors were separated into small groups, each given a booklet of “Common PA Trees”, and taken on a nature walk to learn about different types of trees.  They were given a goal of identifying at least 5 trees, picking up leaves to see if they could match them to pictures and descriptions of leaves in their identification booklets.

The Warriors collected and identified many leaves to use on their collages.  They used colorful crayons to make rubbings of the leaves, and took time to examine the leaf structures revealed in the resulting collages for a creative way to record their collected data!
