The students at Arlington took on a teamwork challenge with a string tied together at the ends. Holding hands and standing in an unbroken ring, the goal was to work together to get through the hole created by the string. The students had to work together to strategize an effective way to get everyone through the string without releasing their hands.
Besides simply teamwork, a secondary purpose of this exercise was to show students how, that in order to work together, one must understand the differences and similarities of the rest of their team members. This led into a discussion about teamwork in other cultures, on which they then watched a documentary to explore these principles.
It was a fun, interactive activity that got the students moving, laughing, and learning!
