NLA’s program at Arsenal elementary school recently opened its doors to families for an Afterschool Family Night!

Parents and siblings of the Little Learning Warriors came to the program to watch and cheer as the students received awards for their perfect attendance. One student from each grade also received a “star student” award — one who is always on task and follows directions in the most exemplary manner. The students got to share what they do during afterschool with their families, and each family marked where they live on a map.

After the award ceremony, there was a food celebration with pizza from Alex’s Corner Pizza Shop, which is owned by the parents of two of the second grade students. Other parents also brought in food for a potluck-style celebration, and afterwards everyone enjoyed a scavenger hunt focused on learning about people from different cultures and countries.

It was an exciting celebration for the Little Learning Warriors to have their families take part in, and for the students to receive deserved recognition for, an exciting part of their everyday lives outside of their homes.
