Sankofa Part 1: Self

Location: Schenley Heights Community Development Program, 3171 Ewart Dr.
Sankofa means, “It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.” In that spirit, this training series focuses on researching the past in order to be more present. Join Malcolm Thomas as he leads Part 1 of this series, created to focus on developing self, students, and community within our afterschool programs.
Part 2 (Student) is March 27, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Thelma Lovette YMCA, 2114 Centre Ave. Part 3 (Community) is April 24, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the BGC Activity Center, 113 N. Pacific Ave.
About the Trainer
Malcolm Thomas is the director of the Reaching Back male mentoring program and the Sankofa Leadership Institute at Neighborhood Learning Alliance. His focus on African culture, heritage, and pride offers a unique and invaluable perspective in our city’s continued efforts to close the opportunity gap for African-American youths.
